10 Ways TNA Can Attract More Pro Wrestling Fans
6. Provide Edgy/Controversial Storylines
This could be one of the turning points in the progression of TNA, because one gets the feeling that despite not having the same PG restrictions as WWE, they are still providing the same tired and often utilised storylines which one can witness on the premier wrestling broadcaster. There is nothing special or immensely different about TNA's storylines at the moment. Of course certain rivalries are used very often because they are classic and never fail to get the fans invested. But TNA should make more storylines like the rivalry between James Storm and Bobby Roode, where the personal animosity was beautifully complimented by their previous friendship and their long, hard roads to become the top wrestlers in the company. A good rivalry takes time to build, but almost always delivers the goods. Also, the reason why WWE even exists today is because of the edgy material that they provided during the Attitude Era. Not all of their storylines were successful, as the "Who Ran Over Stone Cold?" and "Katie Vick" angles have aptly demonstrated. But for every few bad storylines, there was a gem that was able to capture the imagination of the audience and drive the success of the company. They took risks, and for TNA to become competitive they need to do the same. It doesn't matter if they get an immediately negative reaction - sometimes the failure can be a success if it gets people talking about your company. It doesn't mean that every match should be hardcore, because TNA can pride itself of having a roster of some of the most impressive pure wrestlers. But, they need long and well-sustained storylines that can be driven by the fact that they would never be seen in today's WWE. Occassionally it will blow up in their face, but they may just need one big storyline to become a mainstream attraction of the wrestling fan base.
