10 Worst "Big Reveals" In Wrestling History

Humans are naturally curious beings. Because our brains are so averse to ambiguity, we constantly seek out the answers to all of life's unknown questions. When we cannot find these answers, we can become dissatisfied or distressed. When we can, we get closure, which can be incredibly cathartic.

Apart from psychologists, perhaps nobody knows this better than an effective storyteller.

The problem is, when it comes to pro-wrestling, there is a massive margin of error associated with long-term storytelling. Even if a creative team comes up with an excellent, months-long angle with a bombshell reveal at the end, factors such as injuries, suspensions, or adverse reactions from fans can leave said team fumbling about for replacements.

Or, in some cases, the planned "surprise ending" was a stupid idea from the get-go.

Of course, nobody hits a home run every time, and I'm sure it's difficult to write consistently-satisfying angles in such a dynamic environment. But no matter the reason, pro-wrestling has seen plenty of anti-climactic, disappointing, and downright silly "big reveals" in storylines.

And these ten are the worst of the worst.

Kevin Nash had absolutely no business being a part of this storyline. CM Punk was the hottest act in wrestling in 2011, so the exact wrong thing to do was put him in rivalry with a 52-year-old semi-retired giant.

Nevertheless, Nash returned to the company that year by attacking Punk following his WWE Championship victory over John Cena at 2011's SummerSlam, allowing Alberto Del Rio to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on the downed Punk.

The next night on RAW, Nash claimed that he'd received a text from WWE COO and real-life best buddy Triple H, which instructed him to attack whoever won. Triple H denied Nash's allegations, but Punk was not buying it, so he verbally eviscerated both men in a way that only the "Best in the World" could. Over time, it was revealed that the person who had used Triple H's cell phone to text Nash was...Kevin Nash.

First of all, who takes someone else's phone to text themselves? Second of all, why would they put Nash in this storyline if he wasn't medically cleared to wrestle? Thirdly, why was Kevin Nash put into this storyline at all?! His inclusion did nothing but slow Punk's ascent to superstardom, and this painfully stupid reveal made it even more meaningless.
