10 Wrestlers Who Left You Hanging On Every Word

9. Randy Savage

The Rock
WWE

Randy Savage's promo style kept everybody hanging on his every word because he spoke in a constant, barely-suppressed state of near-rage. He always seemed on the brink of an explosion. It was a maverick, dangerous-feeling approach totally unique to himself - silly in the hands of any other operator, terrifying in his.

Savage was beyond intense; his paranoia clutched at him so tightly that it seemed to cause him physical anguish. He talked in conspiratorial tones, as if the entire world was out to get him, every last 'yeah' reinforcing his skewed viewpoint. His wildly oscillating cadence - Savage would walk himself back from the brink of insanity to speak in hushed accusations - put him over as a wrestler as calculating as he was impulsive. He was a man who made sinister, awful plans, and had the madness to put them into brutal action.

His final pitch ahead of the Mega Powers Explosion was seminal.

At once crushingly human and larger-than-life, by the end, he is crying. He is crying because he has tortured himself for so long at the thought of Elizabeth being lured away by Hulk Hogan that he can only dream of smearing his "guts" across the mat.
