10 Wrestling Matches That Blew Out The Crowd Too Early

9. Seth Rollins Vs The Miz (Backlash)

In 2018, Seth Rollins and The Miz were both enjoying something of a renaissance year.

Miz had re-established the Intercontinental title as a belt worth fighting for and Rollins had been churning out epic performances in everything from gauntlet matches to Elimination Chamber bouts.

So, after the two (alongside Finn Bálor) completely lit up the crowd in WrestleMania 34's show opener for the IC belt - with Rollins usurping Miz as champion - you had to imagine that a rematch would be taking place between the pair sometime in the near future.

That hunch was spot on and in one of the most over-crowded PPV periods in WWE history, Rollins would find himself defending the belt against the 'A-Lister' at Backlash less than a month after he'd won the famous white belt.

The match was excellent. However, it just so happened to open the main show and what followed felt like a flaccid shell of an event in comparison.

Fans had completely invested in the incredible clash between the top two stars in WWE's mid-card, and that left them with little to give to the likes of Jeff Hardy Vs Randy Orton and AJ Styles Vs Shinsuke Nakamura - while admittedly the overall match quality of those bouts didn't offer much to excite them.

Then the main event between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe left fans snoring in their seats. Some even fled early to beat the traffic.

You have to imagine that if Vince McMahon had opted to throw Rollins and Miz onto the show at a later stage than he did, at least the fans would have had a bit more left in them to possibly humour the other putrid showings on the night.
