Every week on Raw, SmackDown, IMPACT or wrestling promotion really, wrestlers battle it out with their pride on the line. Often we see title matches, where the loser walks out ashamed having lost their gold, and the winner going on to receive more fame and money. While those are certainly important things to fight over, sometimes in wrestling the stakes are much, much bigger.

On rare occasions, when a wrestler loses they have to have their head shaved, or put on weasel suit or even leave the company for good. But what if you hated someone so much that you were willing to put your own child on the line?

For some reason, UFC doesn’t have the guts to do something like that. But in professional wrestling, life changing and highly illegal things can be competed for inside of a ring. It's usually quite ridiculous, but it's one of those "only in wrestling" moments that you also kind of have to love. If nothing else, the bravery and stupidity of the competitors involved keeps things interesting.

Here are the 10 matches with the highest stakes we’ve ever seen in wrestling!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
