10 WWE Wrestlers Who Came Back From The Cold

5. Batista

A frustrated Batista originally departed WWE, after more than a decade on its books, in 2010. We know that he left in acrimony because of his refusal to mince words in subsequent interviews, wherein he criticised the direction of the company and, in particular, its new-found commitment to squeaky-clean PG fun.

It seemed, at one point, like Big Dave had given up on life in the squared circle altogether. He briefly turned his hand to MMA - where he holds a 100% record matched only by Sam Allardyce - and even landed a couple of gigs in Hollywood before being lured back by Vince McMahon for one last run in 2014.

The fact that they mended bridges three years ago gives us reason to believe that their latest bust-up - Batista was apparently dissatisfied that his "one last run", owing to some poor booking choices, didn't go according to plan - will eventually meet with an amicable resolution too.

Should that happen, then 'The Animal' will join the really elite club of wrestlers who have come back from the cold twice (although only if you define "the cold" as an extremely lucrative career starring in some of cinema's biggest blockbusters).
