11 Things About Foxcatcher That The Film Covered Up

11. Mark Schultz And Dave Schultz Never Attended Foxcatcher At The Same Time

Foxcatcher portrays a story in which Mark Schultz and Dave Schultz are both training in the Foxcatcher wrestling camp. This simply wasn't the case. Mark was at Foxcatcher and had a falling out with du Pont. He left many years before Dave arrived at the camp. "I never wrestled after Davie moved onto Foxcatcher Farms. I was doing Jiu Jitsu at BYU," Mark wrote on his Facebook after the film was released. Indeed, Mark Schultz has taken insult at several of the inaccuracies in the Foxcatcher film. At the end of the day, it is just plainly false that Mark was this vulnerable wrestler who was nursed by his older brother in the Foxcatcher camp. Dave was never there with Mark, and Mark sure as hell didn't need anyone helping him along - he was a hell of an athlete in his own right. The mentally weak Mark in Foxcatcher is a piece of fiction. "I never worked out in the new wrestling complex du Pont built in the film," Mark says on his Facebook.
