5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 29)

Samoa Joe shines; Rampage goes WWE "Sports Entertainment"; Keith Lee treads water.

Well would you look at that? Chris Jericho awarded himself "Sports Entertainer Of The Week" on Friday's edition of Rampage. The Jericho Appreciation Society leader then took a beating from two of his old stablemates and set up a match for this coming Wednesday's episode of Dynamite.

Then, ol' Jezza went back to doing commentary like a total pro.

His current "sports entertainment" imprint can be felt all across AEW's product right now. That's certainly the case on Rampage - the 60-minute 'B' show has ditched the early format of lengthy wrestling matches (and not much else) in favour of blink-and-you'll-miss-them bouts/segments/promos. Is it working? Hmm, that's up for debate, and some fans will hate the new-ish direction.

It definitely won't suit everyone that Keith Lee is working skippable matches for the sake of it, or that All Elite seems to be borrowing from the WWE weekly TV playbook. Friday's latest stuffed four matches, countless backstage promos and a few other in-ring shenanigans into just one hour.

Here's all the good and the bad from a busy night of action.
