6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (July 22)

6. Wrestling Out Of The Corner
Our opening match of the night saw Killian Dain take on Dexter Lumis in a trademark slice of Oh God, They've Booked Themselves Into A Corner Here. The fracas between Dain and Stone that built this match made it inevitable, but it was a match that had both men on a hiding to nothing.
They've done too much good work building Lumis to have him lose here but, likewise, Dain is such a consistent loser on this show that the victory does nothing for his opponent. That said though, taking on a big lad did represent a new challenge for him and it's a credit to both men that an otherwise nothing encounter was pretty enjoyable.
Lumis is normally the more physically dominant man in the ring, so it was interesting seeing him adapt his style to be more speed based. Plus, if nothing else, this gets his finisher over as something that can easily take down men of any size. Ultimately this is a C-, 5.5/10 match, but the positives do just outweigh the negatives
