7 Ups And 1 Down For WWE NXT (Feb 24)

Down...

1. Stockholm Syndrome Costs The Way

For what feels like a small eternity, The Way have found themselves being terrorised by the cold blue stare of Dexter Lumis on NXT. So, in an attempt to rid the abductor of Austin Theory from their collective heads of hair once and for all, Johnny Gargano went one-on-one with the bizarre entity last night.

Playing out like the black and gold game of cat and mouse you likely expected from the two, Lumis' intense scare tactics were met by a North American Champion who wanted little to nothing to do with the creepiness on offer. A feeling that was shared by his young The Way protégés as their attempts to interfere were halted by a similarly debilitating look from Lumis.

Is this the most effective weapon currently in operation on Wednesday nights?

Picking up momentum during the closing stages, Lumis nailed Gargano with a slingshot and belly-to-back suplex combination, swiftly followed by a kip-up leg drop. The Way's contingency plan would then backfire as Theory found himself reluctant to strike his former captor with a chair, leading to Gargano inadvertently knocking him off the apron before the leader of the faction passed out to Lumis' cold, harsh Silence.

Don't get me wrong, the in-ring action was fun enough here. But, once again, this baffling story takes yet another odd turn as Theory and Hartwell seem entranced by the "babyface" Lumis (with the latter claiming him to be "hot" later in the night). A star who is still yet to reveal exactly why he decided to kidnap another human being less than two weeks ago.

If the answer is to secure himself a title shot, then surely there were less batsh*t ways of achieving said goal.

Oh, and the misguided Theory is being carted off to therapy now too. Brace yourselves...
