8 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (10 June)
Ups...
8. A Blossoming Partnership
You shouldn’t look too far into Tasha Steelz vs. Kimber Lee being deemed an Up. It was good, and that’s it. Nothing special at all, but fine nonetheless.
An early botch didn’t help proceedings; Kimber countered Tasha’s diving hurricanrana into a Buckle Bomb, creating a sloppy mess all around. From there, it was as basic as basic gets. An exchange of strikes ensued until Lee’s Swanton Bomb was countered, leading to a Falcon Arrow variation for Steelz’s victory.
Look, heel vs. heel matches rarely work effectively in professional wrestling. There’s a certain dynamic to a babyface vs. babyface offering that hits the right notes, but not for heels vs. heels.
Having Rosemary and Havok lay them both out, as well as Deonna Purrazzo, Susan, and Kiera Hogan, post-match was needed, with Rosemary hitting her Wing Clipper finisher on Purrazzo acting as a nice touch to follow up on Deonna doing the same to Rosemary in the match prior. A double Chokeslam to Hogan indicated the duo have officially united. That’s good, so long as they’re used correctly. The knockouts doubles division is still capable of being saved, so long as singles matches like this are improved upon.
