8 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (10 June)

6. RIP, Madman Fulton's Neck

IMPACT Wrestling

A rare misstep for the X Division saw a rather dull match between Trey Miguel and Petey Williams, and Chris Bey and Rohit Raju. It wasn’t terrible per se; it just wasn’t satisfying.

Playing out as a standard babyfaces vs. heels match with no real fire, Raju and Bey kept Petey contained in their corner for a section of the match, using every trick they could; tripping him as he went for a slingshot, distracting the referee so he could be beaten up at ringside, et al. It was acceptable, but it was never going to blow minds.

Once Trey got the hot tag, things lit up for the final few minutes, with Miguel eventually forcing ‘The Desi Hitman’ to submit via Dungeon Lock. The four of them, alongside Josh Alexander, laid waste to the intervening Ace Austin and Madman Fulton afterwards, with Fulton taking a murderous top-rope Canadian Destroyer.

This post-match brawl, just like it did for Kimber Lee vs. Tasha Steelz, gave you something to talk about. The match itself was merely there. It didn’t do anything for your writer because we’ve come to expect a whole lot more from this division. It’s obviously a rare one-off miss, but regardless, it needed the shenanigans after the bell to add some flare.
