9 Tales Hulk Hogan Just Told Ric Flair That Are Probably Bullsh*t

1. Fighting Verne Gagne

Hulk talks about how he had to manufacture his own merchandise when he was working for the AWA because the company was so deficient when it came to marketing their wrestlers. He says when he got back from a tour of Japan he found that the promoter, Verne Gagne was now printing and selling his own Hulk Hogan t-shirts. When asked what his cut of the sales was, Gagne responded that he wouldn't be getting any, and this infuriated Hogan. Throughout the day the two men continued to argue, and eventually it got heated to the point that the Olympian wrestler asked Hulk "How much did Matsuda teach you?" Hogan replied "enough to beat you" which caused Verne to charge the bigger man. Hulk says Verne's feet slipped on the floor and he fell into a front facelock position, and Hogan locked it in. When he let him go, Verne stood up with his frazzled hair and red face and stormed off to regroup in the bathroom while shouting "You're in trouble for that!" Verne's son Greg then began taking his sweater off to avenge his father, but David Shultz told him that was a bad idea, so Greg left too. "And that was pretty much the end of my relationship with Verne." The podcast ends with the two men praising each other's work and expressing their thanks at the friendship each man has shown the other, with Hogan saying that now that he's been erased from wrestling history he will always cherish his Hall of Fame ring and the love he receives from the fans.
