Following the earlier news that Ric Flair requested and was granted his WWE release today, there's now an update on what led to the Nature Boy's latest departure from Vince McMahon's sports entertainment behemoth.
As per Fightful Select, Flair reportedly contacted Vince directly to ask for his release after becoming frustrated with certain creative booking decisions on WWE TV.
Of course, the 16-time World Champion was involved in an awful storyline with Lacey Evans earlier this year. While Flair hasn't been featured on WWE programming since that storyline was canned when Evans legitimately became pregnant (not by Flair - Woooooo!), he hasn't been shy about slamming that entire situation during media appearances.
It was only this past May that Flair told Ariel Helwani how uncomfortable both he and Lacey were with this storyline, but that he himself just did it because that was what Vince McMahon wanted.
Interestingly, Fightful believes that there were actually more recent booking issues that Flair reportedly didn't like. Whether that was nixed ideas, last-minute changes, or even anything pertaining to Charlotte Flair, who knows.
As of this writing, neither Ric Flair nor WWE have yet to comment on Flair's exit from the company.
