CM Punk Returning To Wrestling At Ring Of Honor PPV In June?

There is speculation amongst wrestling fans that CM Punk could be set to return to wrestling at Ring Of Honor's pay per view on the 22nd of June. This stems from a few factors: it's ROH's first ever pay per view across major cable and satellite providers, the date is after Punk's reported June expiry making him a free agent, and the biggest indicator is that the event is called 'Best In The World' - Punk's catchphrase. In examining the likelihood of Punk showing up, the circumstances certainly add up for a major coincidence. A big PPV debut for a group looking to make an impact? A former ROH legend who became the most talked about wrestler 2014 and just earned freedom from his WWE contract? The show named after his trademark catchphrase? All those things are the perfect combination to suggest Punk could do some sort of ROH return. With this being ROH's PPV debut they'll certainly want to be doing something major. If they were to bring Punk in as a surprise it would create the greatest publicity the group has ever enjoyed. Punk turning up on June 22nd at the first pay per view would put ROH firmly on the wrestling map. He will be a free agent and has made no secret of his appreciation of what Ring Of Honor did for his career, so it is reasonable to suggest he will be open to some sort of role at the event. Maybe he will only turn up to watch as a fan, maybe he will do a run in. The fact that the event is named 'Best In The World' is another clue in Punk perhaps appearing at the show - although there have been previous ROH events called 'Best In The World'. Whether Punk shows up or not, ROH would be smart to work the tease that he might. Exploiting the coincidences is ROH's best strategy in securing the highest possible debut buy-rate.
