Cody Rhodes Shoots Down Rumours That AEW Had Goldberg Interest
The TNT Champion dismisses those stories of Da Man signing for AEW.
Remember when there were rumblings that the burgeoning All Elite Wrestling were looking to bring in Bill Goldberg? Well, seemingly that never actually happened.
Back when AEW was assembling its initial roster, there was online scuttlebutt that Tony Khan’s company was looking to bring in Da Man as a star attraction to add name value to the fledgling promotion.
More recently, Jim Cornette used his podcast platform to claim that Khan was indeed keen to bring the multiple-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion into the fold – and not just that, but there was speculation that AEW would’ve been looking to replicate Goldberg’s iconic streak.
Seeing this story surfacing on Twitter earlier today, TNT Champion Cody Rhodes was quick to shoot down the notion that AEW has had any contact with Goldberg, let alone having plans for him to run through the roster.
Coincidentally, word came today that Bill Goldberg actually has a WWE contract through until 2023. From Goldberg himself, this deal requires him to wrestle two matches a year for Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment juggernaut.
The last time the wrestling world saw Goldberg make an appearance was back at WrestleMania 36, where the former NFL star lost the WWE Universal Championship to Braun Strowman.
