Faction Splits, Wrestlers Turn Face On AEW Dynamite

"Scissor me daddy-- NOOOOOOOOO!" - Anthony Bowens, probably.

Escalating tensions between The Acclaimed and Gunn Club were paid off on last night's AEW Dynamite, as the Gunns turned on Max Caster and Anthony Bowens following an eight-man tag team match.

That something big was coming became clear when Austin Gunn swiped a microphone from Caster's hand as Max was getting ready for his signature entrance rap. Rochester, New York didn't like this - at all - and it led to a full-on split (and babyface turn for The Acclaimed).

A short match played out for the Gunns and The Acclaimed, who defeated Bear Country, Leon Ruffin, and Fuego Del Sol with relative ease. Austin scored an ill-gotten pinfall by blind-tagging himself in after Max had done the hard work and hit Bear Bronson with his Mic Drop finisher. The 1-2-3 was elementary from there.

When Caster and Bowens tried to confront Austin and Colten, the Gunns attacked. Father Billy continued his recent theme of teasing choosing The Acclaimed over his sons, but this was a ruse, with the veteran pulling the swerve, dropping Bowens with a Fame Asser.

Notably, this was also Bowens' first wrestling match since 11 May and only his second since March, owing to injury issues.
