Officials at the FOX Network were apparently - and perhaps appropriately - somewhat p*ssed off with the WWE SmackDown contract signing angle between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus last Friday, which ended with the former dowsing a bottle of urine over the Irishman.

According to Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, the angle violated FOX's Standards & Practices. Following its live transmission, the network resorted to placing an ad break directly before the skit so that viewers on the west coast would be precluded from seeing it.

The segment was the culmination of the long-running spat between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus, which had already drew the ire of commenters for trading on The Charismatic Enigma's historical substance abuse issues. Hardy had been framed in a DUI by Sheamus, and ahead of their Backlash match, took a urine test to prove he was clean. For whatever reason, the Celtic Warrior thought it'd be an excellent idea to have this take place in the middle of the ring - clearly, he's never watched wrestling before. Inevitably, he ended up soaked by Jeff's sample.

Sheamus subsequently beat Hardy at last Sunday's PPV.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
