The latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX - which included a returning John Cena - drew an impressive 2.717 million viewers according to Showbuzz Daily.

With marketable names such as Cena, Goldberg, Roman Reigns and 'The Fiend' all grabbing the headlines in the wake of this week's edition of the blue show, an increase from the previous week's ratings was to be expected. That's exactly what we got and the show even managed to top the super important 18-49 demographic chart with a 0.8 rating.

A drop off from hour one to two has been prevalent throughout SmackDown's tenure on FOX, yet this week's drop off was nowhere near as a dramatic. Cena and 'The Fiend's appearances in the show-closing slot looks to have helped retain viewers for the majority of the show. With their match now set for WrestleMania, cue more finger pointing and blackouts!

Will Friday Night SmackDown on FOX be able to keep up these viewership numbers for the foreseeable future, or at least for the rest of the Road to WrestleMania?

If Cena and Goldberg continue to rear their heads on a weekly basis, these numbers suggest that they could.

Next week's iteration of the blue show will be the go-home Elimination Chamber show. Will we see another Chamber match announced to go along with the Raw Women's and SmackDown Tag Title versions?

We'll have to tune in next week to find out.
