Frustration Over WWE Women's Tag Title Booking
Kairi Sane and Asuka in WWE NXT/Raw booking snafu.
A minor booking contrivance concerning WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane, the Kabuki Warriors, has caused a degree of frustration in the promotion.
The Damage CTRL tandem wrestled and defeated Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a successful title defence on last Tuesday's NXT show (5 March). This came just 24 hours after Raw, on which the Kabuki Warriors were booked for a separate title defence against Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark for the red brand's 11 March episode.
Per Fightful Select's Corey Brennan, although NXT officials were happy to have Asuka and Sane on the Roadblock special last week, "there was some frustration with the champions having a title defense booked for next week's RAW during Monday's show."
Baszler and Stark were offered a Women's Tag Team Title shot by Damage CTRL's Dakota Kai following a win over Kayden Carter and Katana Chance on Raw. The Kabuki Warriors beat Chance and Carter to become champions on the 26 January episode of SmackDown.
Asuka and Sane wrestling Valkyira and Paxley on NXT with a Raw defence already on the table for an upcoming Raw telegraphed the NXT result somewhat.
