Interesting Note On Original WWE Return Plans For Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch was originally supposed to launch a WWE comeback earlier, but said no.

Bayley Ding Dong, Hello

Becky Lynch was originally earmarked for a return match with Bayley at WrestleMania 37.

Yes, note the italics - 'Big Time Becks' eventually launched a comeback at SummerSlam 2021 against Bianca Belair, but the company initially pencilled her in for a bout opposite Bayley at last year's 'Mania instead. Lynch told Fightful that the scenario didn't really cut it for her.

That's not a dig at Bayley either.

Becky has a tendency to sort of/kinda stay in character during her media appearances, and this one with Sean Ross Sapp was no different. Still, the now-former Raw Women's Champion (who lost the belt at this year's WrestleMania) did suggest that an exhibition style showing wouldn't have been grand enough for her return.

Few will argue with that, but Lynch did add that she was "sad" to see Bayley work "so hard that whole year" and yet still end up doing "nothing" on the biggest weekend of 2021. Bayley went on to become Belair's main challenger for the SmackDown Women's belt afterwards, but might view 'Mania 37 as a missed opportunity.

Becks was having none of it though. She was happy to hold off on her return.
