NXT: 10 Biggest Breakout Stars Of 2020 (So Far)
9. Cameron Grimes
Before the gushing, can we stop trying to make 'Grime Time' a thing? It doesn't work. There are plenty of dirty words that can get over in a popular manner, but 'grime' isn't one of them. When people think of the word 'grime', they think of grease, of dust, of underbudgeted British adverts for kitchen spray. They think of thin layers of dirt that are a nightmare to get rid of.
All that aside, Cameron Grimes is low-key having a great year on NXT TV. The former Trevor Lee is one of the most talented performers in the company, a man of immense ability who is finally getting a chance to show it on a major stage. Grimes might be well and truly embedded in the lower echelons of the NXT card right now, but fighting performances against Keith Lee and Johnny Gargano hint at a more prominent future.
There have been some big wins along the way, none bigger than his Damian Priest-assisted victory of Finn Balor on last week's NXT TV. Balor joins KUSHIDA and Dominik Dijakovic on the list of those who have fallen to Grimes, interference or not. The history books don't tell you what transpired for a victory or a loss to happen.
It is difficult to picture Cameron Grimes as NXT Champion, no matter how many top level Irishmen he defeats, but the top of the mountain isn't the only important part of a wrestling card. Cameron Grimes is well on his way to becoming a vital part of the NXT picture.
