Real Reason Why WWE Pulled THIS SmackDown Match Last Week

WWE advertised this SmackDown match then cancelled it last-minute. Here's why!

Aliyah Shotzi

Wrestling Observer Radio are reporting that a scheduled match pitting Aliyah vs. Shotzi was hauled off last Friday's episode of SmackDown due to injury.

Aliyah is currently battling an unknown issue.

WWE did broach the subject on-air - Michael Cole said that the bubbly babyface was hurt and couldn't compete, but most fans watching the show figured that was kayfabe cover-up for the cancellation. Apparently, at least according to Dave Meltzer's sources within the company, Cole was telling the truth.

Tamina replaced Aliyah in the bout (which lasted just shy of three minutes), and did the honours for Shotzi. The win meant Shotzi qualified for the women's Money In The Bank ladder match this coming weekend.

There's no word on whether or not that would've been the case had Aliyah been able to work. Any chances of Aliyah getting in on the action were also squashed by Becky Lynch's victory on Monday's Raw. That completes the field; there are no spots left in the match to take.

Fingers crossed Aliyah's injury is nothing long-term or super-serious. She's been struggling since trading NXT for WWE's main roster, and could use a break.
