10 WWE Superstars That Were Pushed And Then Punished
7. The Ultimate Warrior
Ah, the passing of the torch THAT image of Hulk Hogan handing Warrior the WWF Championship was meant to signal a new dawning for the company. However, all Vince McMahon got was backchat, threats and a lot of general hassle. There was little doubting Warrior's credentials as WWE Champion. He had the look, the charisma, the momentum, and the backing from the WWE Universe. More than anything he just screamed WWF Champion. Not in the eyes of Hulk Hogan though, who was more than reserved when he first heard of the plans of dropping the title. He claimed Warrior wasn't ready, and some could argue after what transpired that he was right. Warrior only had one run as the leading man which lasted for 293 days, a fantastic run that should have been the foundations of a potentially record breaking career at the top. However, Warrior only seemed to get a bit too big for his boots as he tried to use his position as champion for more money, essentially. We've all seen that letter he sent to Vince McMahon demanding $550,000 for performing at WrestleMania VII, a guaranteed number of working days, travel accommodations and a higher percentage of merchandise sales, no less. He departed the WWE soon after that as his career virtually ended. Vince McMahon claimed he fired him Warrior while the now WWE Hall of Famer claimed he resigned. He did make a couple of returns but the did nothing for the legend of the Warrior as he remained at loggerheads with the WWE right up until the final few months of his life. Whatever happened at the end of the Ultimate one's first WWE run, the most Ultimate of pushes didn't result in the longevity that either man would have desired.
