10 WWE Superstars That Were Pushed And Then Punished
4. Jack Swagger
ECW Champion. World Heavyweifght Champion. United States Champion. Real American. Jobber. It really was a case of too much too soon with Jack Swagger and WWE. He was certainly a man for the future when he made his debut in ECW in 2008 as part of the new superstar initiative. January would see him capture the brand's main belt from Matt Hardy which would see him go on a run of 104 days a champion before dropping the belt to Christian. Seemingly in the blink of an eye he was traded to RAW and thrusted into a main event picture with the likes of Randy Orton before dropping into a feud with MVP. The Baller would eventually go over before Swagger unsuccessfully went after Kofi Kingston's United States Championship. He would then win the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania XXVI and set his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Chris Jericho on SmackDown after the champ had been speared by Edge. All of this happening by 28-years-of-age. His run as champion lasted 82 days before Rey Mysterio got the better of him. After that, a rivalry with Dolph Ziggler and a run as United States Champion ensued before The Real Americans tag team reinvigorated the former All American-American's career. Now, with the American Patriot gimmick still going strong, Swagger, at the grand old age of 33, has been used as an enhancement guy for the likes of Rusev to get over. We all know he has the in-ring abilities to get to the top, he just needs the right booking and maybe a moutpiece to help him along the way. His best work to date was certainly as a heel, maybe Swagger could be the next Paul Heyman guy... Just an idea...
