The planned AEW World Tag Team Title match that would have seen the Lucha Brothers defend against FTR has been scrapped from this week’s episode of AEW Rampage.

This is due to travel issues. As announced on last night’s Dynamite show, Rey Fenix was not able to travel to the tapings, which went down in Duluth, Georgia last night. Thus, he is unable to defend the straps alongside Penta El Zero Miedo.

Instead of wrestling the Lucha Brothers, FTR will now face Penta and PAC in a non-title match. This was confirmed during the same segment, with PAC insistent that he was fine to compete, despite sporting an eye patch.

FTR and the Lucha Brothers last wrestled at Full Gear 2021, where Penta and Fenix successfully defended the AEW World Tag Team Titles after dropping the AAA belts to Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood a few weeks prior. The two teams will contest those AAA straps at Triplemania Regia this weekend, with that match still good to go.

Rampage’s planned TNT Title fight between Sammy Guevara and Tony Nese is still on the lineup. On top of this, Jade Cargill will face indie up-and-comer Janai Kai in a showcase bout.
