Tony Khan Doesn't Think AEW's Roster Is Getting Too Full
AEW's roster keeps growing, but Tony Khan is going to keep building the talent pool.
Tony Khan doesn't believe there's such thing as a "full roster" in professional wrestling.
Today's pre-All Out 2021 media call saw the AEW founder and how close he felt the company's talent roster was to being full in the wake of recent signings like CM Punk. Khan answered that unlike the other sports in which he works (NFL and association football), AEW isn't bound by a salary or roster cap, and there's no such thing as a promotion being "full" in terms of talent.
Expanding on this, Khan said that how many people AEW signs is his prerogative. The idea is to grow, evolve, and keep building, with new faces useful in doing that.
He added, too, that not every signing needs to be a CM Punk or Jon Moxley. One of his philosophies on talent acquisition is to build from the bottom and the top, looking at wrestlers who can come in and enhance the quality of shows at all levels, with all spots on the card in consideration.
More new signings are expected to join the AEW roster over the coming days and weeks, with the likes of Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and other free agents all linked. Those who sign will join the likes of Punk, Malakai Black, 2point0, and Andrade El Idolo as #AllElite newcomers.
