Update On AEW Working With Impact, NJPW & Other Promotions
The latest on AEW working with NJPW (and more) following new Impact link.
All Elite Wrestling is currently looking to work with as many other promotions as possible after the televised birth of their Impact Wrestling connection earlier this week.
This is the word of Dave Meltzer, who writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the company's door is open to Impact, NJPW, AAA, and the NWA.
The AEW/Impact link came to fruition after Impact executive Don Callis helped Kenny Omega to an AEW World Title win, then announced Omega's appearance on next week's show. The NWA connection was already in place, as was the AAA relationship (Omega still holds that company's Mega Championship), though things remain uncertain when it comes to NJPW.
Meltzer states that AEW President Tony Khan has been in regular communication with NJPW's Rocky Romero, hoping to "open doors" with the promotion. Khan believes that the odds of striking a working agreement have improved since Harold Meij stepped down as New Japan's CEO and President in October.
There's no word on whether or not Omega will "jump" to Impact as part of the new storyline, though it is stated that inter-promotional matches are very much on the table. Meltzer mentions The Young Bucks vs. The Good Brothers specifically.
