Update On Daniel Bryan's Chances Of Re-Signing With WWE

Bryan to say "Yes!"?

For those who loved Daniel Bryan's series of matches with Big Cass post-comeback, there's good news, as it looks like the SmackDown superstar's thus-far underwhelming WWE comeback is set to be prolonged.

Bryan was cleared for a return to the ring in time for WrestleMania 34 back in March, amidst speculation he would seek pastures new should he not be allowed to resume his wrestling career. Despite WWE doctor Joseph Maroon finally giving him the A-OK, Bryan, whose current deal expires 1 September, failed to commit to a new contract with the company. You can hardly blame him; the grass on the independent scene must have looked particularly verdant during his comeback tour opposite the lumbering Cass.

However, in an interview with Singapore's The Business Times during WWE's recent visit to Taipei, Taiwan, Bryan allayed fears that he's set to depart the company, mentioning that negotiations for a new contract are underway.

"The wrestling world is an interesting world right now," he said. "I love working with WWE and my wife [Brie Bella] is part of WWE and so there's a good chance I'll re-sign."

Bryan, 37, is scheduled to team with his old partner Kane opposite The Bludgeon Brothers at this Sunday's Extreme Rules. Miring one of the world's greatest wrestlers in the tag division with a 50+ politician isn't the best use of Bryan's talents, but considering the last feud, it's a step in the right direction.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
