What FTR Had To Do To Get Immediate WWE Releases

Their freedom came at a cost.

Speaking to Fightful Select, FTR shed some light on exactly what they had to do in order to secure their swift releases from WWE.

Back in April, WWE made it seem like the decision to let the team of Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson go was a smooth and amicable one. However, the current AEW tag team has now revealed that their freedom came at a cost as WWE were planning on extending Dax Harwood's contract until September due to an injury he sustained earlier in his time with the company.

In the end, the duo were only granted their immediate releases after agreeing to sign over the trademarks they'd previously paid $10,000 to acquire.

FTR also mentioned how they were sure AEW was the company for them as soon as they began negotiating with Tony Khan's promotion.

Since moving to AEW, Harwood and Cash Wheeler have already proven just how under-utilised they were in Vince McMahon's company, putting together excellent tag team encounters with the likes of The Lucha Brothers, SCU and The Butcher and The Blade. They're also the storyline reason for AEW introducing a new Tag Team Appreciation night which will go down this Wednesday on Dynamite.

So, that $10,000 is fast looking like money very well spent as far as FTR and All Elite Wrestling is concerned.
