Why Vince McMahon Changed His Mind On Masks At WWE Tapings

Wear a mask, pal.

Last week saw WWE finally take the easy, effortless step of making protective masks compulsory at all television tapings going forward, with the promotion reportedly charging noncompliant wrestlers $500 for a first offence and $1,000 for a second, dragging their handling of the ongoing global health crisis out of the Paleozoic era.

A new report from Fightful Select states that the change came on the back of an unnamed WWE wrestler approaching Vince McMahon about the company's safety precautions. This went down following tens of independent contractors testing positive for the illness currently sweeping the globe, with Kayla Braxton, Renee Young, Adam Pearce, and Jamie Noble amongst that number.

The wrestler in question told the WWE Chairman and CEO that they didn't feel company measures were being taken seriously. Mask usage and social distancing were both made mandatory soon after, with the fining system also being brought into play.

It is also stated that rather than sitting in his usual spot at the Gorilla Position, McMahon now spends the Performance Center tapings sitting in his office, away from the action. He occasionally makes the trip to Gorilla though distancing himself is likely a smart move for a 74-year-old.
