Summerslam 2009
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdxYSDtwuEM Its quite strange to think that this is almost a forgotten classic, a mere three years after it happened. Like the previous entry in the list, this edition of Summerslam had a solid undercard and two great main events Dolph Ziggler began to show his spectacular promise when he put on a fantastic opener with Rey Mysterio, in one of the best examples of how to open a PPV. DX had a solid match with Legacy and despite beating the young pairing of Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes, they put them both over big time. Randy Orton and John Cena battled in their 1000th encounter (perhaps a slight exaggeration, but not too far off the figure). While they have always been hit-and-miss in terms of their matches, this was one of, if not the best match the pair had together. The finale was a masterpiece. CM Punk defeating the soon-to-be-out-of-contract Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship in a TLC match. The two had been in some great matches before this encounter and the whole straight-edge character worked really well off Hardy (I wonder why). Its a shame that Hardy didnt stay a little longer in WWE because these two seemed destined to do battle for years to come.
