WWE Backstage Reaction To John Cena Injury

Reaction to Cena's nine month injury.

John Cena has suffered a shoulder injury and will be out of action for six to nine months. It is a disaster for WWE, as plans had been in place for Cena to co-main event WrestleMania 32 against The Undertaker. WWE have so far kept tight lipped on the Cena injury, which is indicative of the level of sudden shock. A brief two line statement on WWE.com is all that they have mustered. Cena tweeted "Rather upside down start to 2016 as tomorrow I will head to Birmingham for shoulder surgery. Life's full of set backs but #nevergiveup" Other than that, WWE superstars have been quiet on Twitter, which may indicate that WWE stopped their wrestlers from discussing the injury until further details are known. Perhaps the lack of further comment suggests the company are hoping that surgery goes well for Cena, but current estimates from Dave Meltzer put Cena out of action for six to nine months. Former WWE Head Of Talent Jim Ross commented on Twitter "If @JohnCena is out of WM32 Texas, it creates amazing opportunities for many. New ideas, bold moves are timely. Who steps up @WWE ?" That's an optimistic way of looking at it, but really, WWE was a much poorer place without Cena during his Novemeber / December absence. Passing on good wishes to Cena, was former WCW President Eric Bischoff, who tweeted "Nothing but #respect for @JohnCena. How he started, how he has committed, and what he has achieved and will continue to achieve. @WWE" There'll be far more industry people wishing Cena well in private. The current situation appears to be that WWE are awaiting the surgery results before making a full reaction to this news.
