WWE Reveals New Title Challenger On Latest SmackDown

Triple H's writers went above and beyond for this wrestler on WWE SmackDown.

Raquel Rodriguez will challenge Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women's Title on next week's episode.

The babyface was booked to fight through the pain on Friday night's show. According to commentator Michael Cole, Raquel suffered a "broken arm" due to recent attacks from Rousey and Shayna Baszler, but she gritted her teeth and won a 'Gauntlet' on SmackDown to become new number one contender.

Triple H clearly has high hopes for Rodriguez, because she almost came across as a modern retelling of John Cena's biggest superhuman moments when beating everyone from Xia Li and Liv Morgan to Sonya Deville and Baszler.

That bodes well for her future on the brand.

Ronda is unlikely to shed the belt just yet though - WWE will probably keep the SmackDown Women's Title on Rousey until WrestleMania 39 at the earliest. Perhaps that's when someone like Rodriguez will have her day. A title change on next week's show would be a huge surprise.

Some fans are worried by how easily Rodriguez breezed through Shayna despite being kayfabe injured. Is this another false dawn for ex-NXT colossus Baszler on WWE's main roster?
