WWE: Rob Van Dam Confirms He Will Return Before Summerslam

Rob Van Dam has confirmed he will return to the WWE before Summerslam 2014. The star revealed the comeback plans on Twitter when asked by a fan -
"@THEPIMPHACKER: Are you going to return by #Summerslam ? @TherealRVD ?" Indeed.
It's a simple response but it is the affirmation we have all wanted to hear after disappointment over Van Dam not returning in January's Royal Rumble. A WWE run similar to last year should now be expected, Van Dam returned in July 2013 and was a key worker until he departed in October. This part time basis suits Van Dam and WWE, the star could perhaps return earlier this year around Wrestlemania, but he is unlikely to ever come back on a full time deal. Speaking with The Burlington County Times he detailed his relief at not being on the road these days -
"The 18-year-old me wouldn't understand the 43-year-old me because then I wanted to travel and see the world. But I love being home. Some guys are on the road and can't wait to get home, others are at home and can't wait to get on the road. I'm definitely the one who wants to be home."
Part time deals and the utilisation of old stars has became an increasingly used strategy of WWE. Right now we are seeing Wrestlemania built around part timers like Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Hulk Hogan. With Van Dam coming in over the Summer and possibly Kurt Angle in the Autumn, it looks like another frustrating year for full time talent who lose out on spots to the ready made stars.
