WWE Rumour On Some People Wanting Kevin Owens To Fail

Is Kevin Owens being booked poorly because he's a Triple H guy?

Kevin Owens has done very well for himself during his first two months on WWE's main roster, but there are apparently forces within WWE management that don't want a guy like him to succeed. Since Owens is seen is a "Triple H guy" there's a perception by some that long time WWE Executive Producer Kevin Dunn is trying to prevent Owens from ascending to the top. In a story on CagesideSeats, they refer to a recent commentary by Dave Meltzer, suggesting these potential issues within WWE's hierarchy. After Owens beat Cena at Elimination Chamber, apparently Cena's merchandise numbers went down enough that it was considered significant and it led to WWE wanting to put Cena over Owens at both Money in the Bank as well as Battleground. Here's how Meltzer explained it;

"To again explain this: there were two schools of thought on Kevin Owens from the start and the basic gist was that some people thought that he was going to make it and some people thought he wasn't going to make it, and those who thought he wasn't going to make it made sure that he got every opportunity to make it or else they would be wrong. You know what I mean? I shouldn't say they would be wrong, they wouldn't prove that they were right. So now whether he makes it or he doesn't make it, there is a game going on and we're in the middle of the game."
The story from last year as noted by CagesideSeats was that Dunn was trying to get in Vince McMahon's ear to try to bury NXT call ups such as Bo Dallas, Adam Rose and Paige. Of the three performers, only Paige has made a significant difference on the main roster.
There's also a belief within some people in WWE that Dunn will try to bury anybody that is a threat to his position because people think that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon would definitely replace Dunn if they got their way or obtained full control of WWE. Since Triple H is running things in NXT, he's got his own people in place there, so it's conceivable to think that Dunn could be replaced one day. As a result of all this, a guy like Owens is being put in the middle of the political battle between McMahon's son-in-law Triple H and Dunn, who many people consider one of the biggest power players in WWE since he's been McMahon's confidant for so long. All of this should be taken with a grain of salt, but there are always interesting things going on backstage in WWE and this is an example of that.
