WWE SmackDown Draws Lowest Overnight Viewership Since Moving To FOX

People clearly weren't in the mood to raise a glass to Jeff Hardy.

This week's Friday Night SmackDown recorded the lowest average overnight ratings since the show moved to FOX in October 2019, according to Showbuzz Daily.

Bringing in an average of 1.777 million viewers, the latest episode of the blue show saw a drop of almost 20% from the previous week's average rating. SmackDown also managed to score a 0.4 in the crucial 18-49 demographic and this was tied for #2 on the night with The Wall and Shark Tank.

Despite the poor viewership, this week's SmackDown contained some seriously entertaining match-ups. Matt Riddle and John Morrison put together a high octane, extremely physical bout and AJ Styles successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Drew Gulak in another excellent contest.

Unfortunately, it looks like fans were far more interested in kicking off their Fourth of July holiday weekend celebrations than watching Jeff Hardy smash a bottle of champagne over a bartender's head.

A replay of Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman's Universal title match at the Money in the Bank PPV, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day Vs Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura, and Women's Tag Team title holders Bayley and Sasha Banks Vs Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss in a non-title encounter have all been announced for next week's show.
