WWE: Top 10 Summerslam Matches of All Time

8. Triple H Vs The Rock €“ 1998

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPrdgEPoNiM While Stone Cold€™s WWF Championship victory at WrestleMania 14 had undoubtedly kicked off the €˜Austin Era€™, there were few challengers to his crown. Aside from The Undertaker, who was facing off against Austin at the same PPV, only Mankind and possibly Kane could be described as main eventers. This problem was being fixed by the WWF, mostly by promoting their best mid-card talent, who, luckily for them, were The Rock and Triple H. Both were leading their respective stables: the Nation of Domination and D-Generation X and they had some humorous exchanges in the lead-up to their bout, which would decide the fate of the Intercontinental Championship. After a hugely entertaining match that showed the potential future of the WWF, it was Triple H who came out on top. €˜The Game€™ had hit the Pedigree on The Rock and started to climb the ladder before Mark Henry, a member of the Nation, threw flour in his eyes. While Triple H struggled to the top of the ladder, The Rock also started to climb up but Chyna hit €˜The Great One€™ with the low blow, allowing the DX member to collect the Intercontinental Championship. Triple H had left Summerslam the champion but it was The Rock who would win his first WWF Championship before the end of the year. The two would feud many times over that title.
