The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE are interested in Lucha Underground announcer Melissa Santos, and they could be planning to pair her with Alberto Del Rio.
However, her Lucha Underground contract status is unknown, and that could be an issue for WWE. She was backstage at WrestleMania 32, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything at this stage.
If a deal was to be made and she was packaged with Del Rio, it could be along the same lines of what Ricardo Rodriguez used to do for the Mexican wrestler. She'd be a personal ring announcer, generating heat for Del Rio's matches. It would be a good addition to his act, and her look is ideal for WWE's visual appeal.
Del Rio has recently been working as part of The League Of Nations, but the faction is now disbanded and it looks like he'll be focusing again on a singles career. He's one of the best in-ring wrestlers in the company, capable of working some fantastic matches. It would be great to see him re-established as a top contender, and Santos could help him in getting back over to that level.
Del Rio turns 39 later in May and this next twelve months could represent a final big run with WWE.
