WhatCulture Jobs - Combat Sports Video Presenter - UFC, MMA, Boxing

As we continue to expand our YouTube coverage we are now looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and knowledgable presenter to cover combat sports, with a primary focus on UFC and Boxing.

We are ideally seeking candidates who would be able to work directly from our Newcastle upon Tyne office, however we would also consider applications from those who have their own facilities at home to produce audio/video content.

Personal Checklist.

Confidence in both yourself and your ability - Not just because shrinking violets make for terrible videos, but because you may be faced with shoots in public situations or busy studios.

Able to start from scratch - While you may occasionally be provided with a script, for the most part you will be expected to be able to come up with concepts off your own back. Content may also be used on the WhatCulture.com website, so strong writing skills will be a big plus.

Uniqueness - We want people that stand out. It's been the distinctive charm of our current presenters that has helped set the channel apart, and that's something we're keen to build on.

Some experience of web-based media - Understanding the intricacies of digital presenting will stand you in good stead.

A lot of ideas ideas - While we have an existing YouTube channel covering MMA, we are looking to revamp this and bring fresh content and ideas to it.

Be open to collaboration - While you must be comfortable presenting videos on your own, you will likely also be working alongside other on-screen personalities.

A working knowledge of audio/video editing software - Or, at the very least, a strong desire to learn about it.

As with any job, being well organised is vital, and with being involved in an extension of our existing website a good writing style is also important. You'll be tasked with restructuring some of our existing written content into an audio or video package, so understanding what will and won't translate from the page (and how to put it in your own style) is key.

To Apply:

If you are not already, please do familiarise yourself with the types of video WhatCulture creates. While our combat sports coverage may not end up being exactly the same, you will get a good sense of the type of videos we will likely be producing by checking out the WhatCulture Wrestling channel.

Send an up-to-date CV and a covering letter to editor@whatculture.com. Your application should also include links to any relevant and recent presenting/voice-over experience, or your personal showreel.
