By Christoph Clay /

Comics have recently seen a resurgence in the popularity of 90's concept and characters (Age Of Apocalypse, X-Force, Rob Liefeld, etc). 90s comics are so easy to hate: the pouches, the muscles, the overall grim-and-grittiness (Rob Liefeld)... but some things from the era of holographic covers and Hypertime are simply awesome and deserve to be revisited. Some changes from the 90s forever transformed the medium for the better. Here, now, is a list dedicated to 10 such things...

10. Choices

Say what you will about the content, the sheer volume of choices in the 90s made it impossible to hate everything. First Comics, Malibu, Comico, Eclipse, Dark Horse, CrossGen... not to mention imprints from the Big Two (like Impact, Epic, or Razorline). The best thing about a lot of the upstart companies was they tended to focus more on creator-owned properties than the mainstream comic publishers of the past. One particular young company would go on to revolutionize the industry, but we'll get to that later.
