10 Worst Things That Ever Happened To Batman

DARKNESS. NO PARENTS.

Given one of his many titles is the Dark Knight, it should go without saying that Batman's comics aren't all sunshine and roses. That doesn't mean it's always been ultra grim-dark-Martha tunnel vision all the time - just that Bruce Wayne isn't really one to know what true happiness feels like on a regular basis.

Gotham's self-appointed protector has been put through all sorts over the years, whether it be him being orphaned at the tender age of eight, seeing his adoptive sons leave or die one by one, or even having his arch nemesis become a god, which would lead to a torture so unimaginable, Superman and Mr. Mxyzptlk had to wipe his mind.

Yep, Batman hasn't had it easy, and it's a testament to the creativity of DC's dastardly creators that they keep on finding increasingly cruel and imaginative ways to make the Caped Crusader suffer. It's all done with the best intent of course - to show how even the most human of heroes can persevere and stand shoulder to shoulder with the gods and monsters of the DC universe - but still... poor Batman.
