25 Best Cosplay Photos From WonderCon 2014

Comic-Con's little sister once again provides us with some spectacular cosplay!

By James Garcia /

WonderCon, often referred to as Comic-Con's little sister, was last weekend, and nerds from around the globe flocked to the sold-out event to celebrate the films, comics, and characters they love. As always, it was an absolute geek extravaganza, and as usual, many attendees showed up in costume. At this point, cosplay is basically a requirement for diehard fans, and a chance to show off their amazing (or sometimes embarrassing!) costume-making skills to bring some of the world's most iconic superheroes, villains, magical creatures, and pop culture icons to life. There were literally hundreds of cosplay photos that took the web by storm during the convention, showing off the usual menagerie of Batmen, Supermen, Lokis, and sexy anime women the geek world has to offer. What we're celebrating here today are some of the best, the most true to the source material, and downright awesome costumes there.

25. Rogue And Gambit

Though it seems 20th Century Fox just can't get the costumes right, fans have no problem bringing these awesome mutants to life. And they thought Rogue's yellow suit would look ridiculous in live action...

24. Dredd

The most impressive thing about his Judge Dredd costume? How well he nailed Karl Urban's trademark frown. It's good to know that the Judges were present this year, in order to make sure nothing got out of hand.

23. Avatar

James Cameron needed hundreds of millions of dollars to bring the world of Avatar to life, but this fan did a pretty great job at playing a Na'vi, without having to resort to the embarrassing motion capture suits.

22. New Lara Croft

Lara Croft was recently given a reboot, and while her classic look will always have a place in our hearts, there's no denying the awesomeness of her new, rugged look that this cosplayer managed to translate perfectly.

21. Planet Of The Apes

Well, at least this primate overlord was nice enough to buy tickets for the humans he brought along to the convention. Those things ain't cheap!
