Award Winning A1 Anthology Series Returns
Launched in 1989, antholgy comic A1 was envisioned as an outlet for the creator owned stories of Dave Elliot and Garry Leach. So, the award winning series branched out, and became a place where the pair's big name industry friends could try their hands at their own creator owned material. Oh, did I mention that their friends included Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Dave Gibbons, Glen Fabry, Bill Sienkiewicz, D'Isreali, and Grant Morrison. So yeah, there's some prestige there.
The last issue was released in 2008, but now the series is returning to its roots with new stories from Elliot and his close artistic friends. Launching today from a co-releaseing venture between Titan Comics and Atomeka, the series showcase three new ongoing series, each one reflecting the variety A1 is known for:
The Weirding Willows comes from Elliot and artists Barnaby Bagenda, Sam Basri, Sakti Yuwono and Jessica Kholinne, and sees a number of fantastical worlds, such as Oz, Wonderland, Neverland, and Mars, leak through mysterious portals into the small English town of Willow Weir, with only Alice, of Wonderland fame, and her allies left to combat them.
Elliot also pens Odyssey, with art by Garrie Gastonny and Sakti Yuwono, which sees a Captain America-like super soldier forced into the middle of a never ending war bewtween the forces of Heaven and Hell. And last, but not least, is Carpe DIEm, by writer W.H. Rauf and artist/creator Rhoald Marcelius, and offbeat tale of a group of deadly assassins, one for each day of the week. Everything is not right with the group, though, as they must always be lead by a Sir Monday, and as we all know, everybody hates Monday.
