Even the finest actors can spectacularly self-destruct at some point in their career, and the science behind it - and specifically why the cruel hand of deterioration affects only some stars - is far from precisely known. But what is clear is that there is a finite amount of good scripts out there, and also, money can often talk louder than the urge to make something unique or creatively impressive. What's amazing is how some actors still manage to have career longevity even after they have basically become walking cliches or traded in all integrity for a gigantic pile of cash. While they all may still have a robust career, most of the actors profiled in this list are currently in either the critical or commercial doldrums, and crucially who don't seem at all able to show the self-awareness to learn from their mistakes and make a run for the border back into beloved territory. To celebrate this ignominious bunch, and to present a model for other actors to avoid the almost wilfully ignorant lack of progress they adopt, we're looking at the actors who make us grown and grouse, and whose choices have made our eyes roll and our spirits sink. Why can't they just pull themselves together?
