10 Alternate Star Wars Movie Scenes We Almost Got To See

From floating hands, to Jedi roll-calls, these alternate Star Wars scenes very nearly made the cut.

As with any other series filled to the brim with action-packed and heart-stopping drama, the big screen world of Star Wars can only fit so many pieces of glorious dialogue, battles to the death, and eye-melting CGI sequences into a feature. But, thanks to the wonders that are DVD and Blu Ray extras, many a shot scene that didn't make the theatrical cut can still be assessed and examined by force fanatics all over the globe.

But, as history has taught us via various documentaries, interviews, and script leaks, these aren't the only moments from a galaxy far, far away that very nearly snuck into the Skywalker Saga.

As this list will soon disclose, a whole host of mouth-watering, game-changing, or just downright dumb decisions were almost green-lit to enter the "official" Star Wars canon as we know it today. But for an equally wide-ranging array of reasons, they were never to be.

From the assembling of a unit capable of making The Avengers shiver, to kicking off a new trilogy with a truly baffling visual, we'll let you decide whether the various folks behind the films made the right call in dropping this bunch of nearly-made moments.

10. The Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader Force Ghost Mash-Up - The Force Awakens

Overall, few would argue with the fact that J.J. Abrams managed to successfully juggle what fans had originally fallen in love with when taking in the Original Trilogy and the introduction of an intriguing ensemble of new heroes and villains to dissect when bringing The Force Awakens into existence.

While the temptation was clearly there to perhaps rely a little too heavily on nostalgia, though it's not as though the film stayed clear of that tool altogether, Abrams seemed determined to keep the focus on this next batch of leads as much as possible.

This is also evidenced in the decision to scrap what could've admittedly been a crowd-pleasing and unexpected blast from the past in the early stages of production. As revealed in the Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens book, the idea of an Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader force ghost mash-up, that would've transitioned back-and-forth between the well-known identities, was once in the pipe-line for the film.

There's no concrete evidence on how this Skywalker/Vader ghost would've been used in the film, but the art in the book seems to suggest the powerful Jedi/Sith would've presented himself to his son, Luke, at some point. Imagine that father-son catch-up.
