10 Best Scenes From 2018's Summer Blockbusters
RIP Ryan Reynolds.
Summer blockbuster season is well and truly over, as much as we hate to admit it. And while it hasn't necessarily been a standout year for big-budget tentpoles overall, the last few months have nevertheless served up a fair share of intensely memorable, high-concept thrills.
From ludicrously entertaining action sequences to devastatingly sad death scenes, shock cameos totally out of nowhere, absurd comedy sequences and possibly the greatest mid-credits scene in blockbuster history (you know what it is), this summer sure had unforgettable moments to spare.
Regardless of each movie's overall quality, they at least left audiences with one indelible moment certain to endure for the foreseeable future...
10. The Brachiosaurus Dies - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom may have been a mostly flaming trainwreck, but it did serve up one legitimately brilliant, devastating moment truly worthy of the original film.
As Owen (Chris Pratt), Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and co. are escaping Isla Nublar as the active volcano erupts, they look back from their departing ship to see a Brachiosaurus helplessly consumed by the flames, letting out a haunting final cry for good measure.
As if that's not horrifying enough, director J.A. Bayona has since confirmed that this is actually the very same Brachiosaurus introduced to audiences in the first Jurassic Park. As intensely dumb as this movie is for the most part, this was a wonderfully heartbreaking moment that's proven incredibly tough to shake ever since.
