One of the basic tenets of any successful movie is that the audience can relate to the actions of the focal characters. After all, if we don't believe in what the hero is doing, how can we possibly root for them?
This is an especially problematic aspect of the horror genre, which so often forces characters to pick up the "idiot ball" in order to keep the plot chugging along.
Because if everyone just acted rationally and did the smart thing, most movies, regardless of genre, would be over pretty damn quick.
But dumb characters aren't always "rewarded" with a gory comeuppance, and in fact, sometimes characters who make spectacularly ill-advised decisions will impressively manage to survive the rest of the movie.
Despite these 10 characters all demonstrating a baffling lack of regard for the well-being of themselves and those around them, each managed to make it to the end credits in tact - whether you wanted them to or not.
