Time and time again, audiences return to their favourite actors because they know what they're going to get. With Al Pacino, you're probably in store for a somewhat hammy, larger than life performance; with Samuel L. Jackson, chances are that - at one point - he'll deliver a loud and sweary rant, because that's why you hire Samuel L. Jackson; Meryl Streep - she'll do a strange, foreign accent without breaking a sweat, no doubt.
