10 Most Brutal Moments In The MCU
Marvel Cinematic Violence.
Being under the Disney label, the Marvel Cinematic Universe does not go for graphic gore despite being a franchise of action movies.
While the upcoming Deadpool 3 will be R-rated, every act of violence in each MCU movie so far has been within the limits of a PG-13 rating. The Netflix TV shows like Daredevil, The Punisher, and Jessica Jones are the other few exceptions; going all out with mountains of crimson blood and bone-cracking sounds as the heroes pile through dozens of unlucky villains. However, there is always a debate whether or not these Netflix offerings are truly canon.
The minds behind the MCU are inventive. They know the loopholes where they can show graphic depictions of violence while still being within the limits of a family picture. After all, this shared cinematic realm is populated by aliens, gods, and androids. The MCU cannot show flesh and blood being decapitated, but who said they cannot show a realistic CGI creature being decapitated? The MCU cannot show buckets of blood coming out of someone... unless the blood is not colored red.
Despite being the biggest mainstream franchise watched by millions of children, the following ten moments confirm that the MCU was never for kids.
10. Mysterio Causes Spider-Man To Be Hit By A Train - Spider-Man: Far From Home
In real life, one of the worst accidents that can happen is getting hit by a large fast-moving vehicle such as a train. In an instant, every bone and muscle in the body gets broken, and there is a very real chance of death.
In the MCU, however, some superheroes can survive that kind of impact. Still, that didn't make it any less jarring when Spider-Man: Far From Home saw Peter Parker hit by a train. As ol' Web-head vanishes from the frame for a second after the train hits him, audiences did not know how huge the damage was to our hero - and Mysterio himself thought Peter was dead.
What makes it more stressful is that Parker did not see it coming. Mysterio was bombarding his senses with a hologram of nightmarish imagery, and when the rogue turned off said hologram, there was no time for Peter to process what was going on before he was hit be the aforementioned train.
In the aftermath of this attack, Peter enters one of the train carts with just bloodied fingers, cuts on his face, and damaged ribs. It may not look like a realistic consequence of a real train accident, but with Tom Holland’s acting ability, the pain feels just as real.
